LIVE ROCK MUSIC CONCERT VENUES

While many visitors come to Prague for the culture, a musical event featuring electric guitars and lyrics about love and life can be as much a cultural experience as a classical concert in the Municipal House. Besides having a revolutionary history of rock’n’roll, a tradition started by such bands as the Plastic People of the Universe, Prague seems to be the cut-off point for touring Western bands who just can’t seem to make it over to Krakow or further east (which is a shame but slowly changing). But from free Mondays to small festivals, Prague never lacks for live shows during the week, and observing the crowd bouncing along to the music is enough of a cultural experience in itself.

Lucerna hosts is becoming more popular for hosting top-name international acts of all types in addition to popular Czech bands. During the weekend it is transformed into a retro themed disco as it hosts their 80′s & 90′s Video Party on Friday and Saturday nights. Neither the venue nor most of the music is cutting-edge, but it is quite popular and its location off Wenceslas Square makes it easy to find. And if you’re after a cheesy disco party night, this could be the place… (WARNING: Even for top name acts, the floor is open so be prepared to stand for the concerts.)
